Thank You, Dayton Firefighters

Sept. 19, 2020:
The Dayton Firefighters Union presented Dayton’s Original Pizza Factory and our staff with an incredibly nice appreciation award, accepted by our Manager of almost 30 years, Dan Azbill (pictured with his wife).  We think his words say it best:
“I accepted an award tonight on behalf of the Pizza Factory, from the Dayton Fire Department, thanking us for years of service. The gratitude shown to me and my comrades was humbling. The real heroes in that room however, were the men and women there ( and those on duty) that risk their lives on a daily basis in service of our community.
Thanks again first responders. You are heroes in our book.”

Our Pizza Boxes ARE Recyclable!

From PMQ Magazine:

Recently, we learned that pizza lovers have one more reason to feel good about embracing pizza night: it’s now been officially established and agreed that the pizza box is, in fact, recyclable.

The news, released in July by the American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA), corrects a common misconception: the belief that cheese and grease stuck to the boxes would negatively impact recyclability. A study by WestRock, an AF&PA and FBA member company, found that the typical amounts of these contaminants are acceptable, and paper mills that recycle boxes concurred.

“Corrugated pizza boxes are successfully recycled every day at paper mills throughout the country, yet consumers remain confused by mixed messages suggesting that some boxes should not be put in the recycle bin,” said AF&PA President and CEO Heidi Brock. “So, let’s be clear: pizza boxes are recyclable. Consumers should not be concerned about grease or cheese – simply remove any leftover pizza and place the box in the recycle bin. We encourage communities to update their residential recycling programs guidelines to explicitly accept pizza boxes that are free of food.”

There it is!  Think globally, act locally.  Give us a call and we’ll send you a delicious pizza in a box that, when you finish your tasty meal, you can proudly display in your recycle bin!

Sun Powered Pizza! Pizza Factory Is SOLAR !!

Dayton’s Original Pizza Factory has gone SOLAR !!! On Tuesday March 26 our solar panels started producing power and we are officially making partially sun-powered pizza! The system generates 11.9kW of power and should replace about 20% of our electric power usage.  Here is a bird’s eye view of our panels in operation on Day 1 of going SOLAR!

Also installed was an electric vehicle charger and we hope to eventually add an electric vehicle for deliveries.  We learned a lot about solar as this project developed, so feel free to call or email owner Bill Daniels ([email protected]) if you have an interest in going solar as well.  Solar power has reached the point where it is not just a good idea ecologically, but it has become an excellent investment with a very good rate of return! In the meantime, enjoy some sun-powered pizza from Dayton’s Original (Solar!) Pizza Factory.
